Starting Friday, New Yorkers who enjoy drinking beer and wine will pay a little more for it. The state tax increase on beer and wine goes into effect May 1st.

Friday, a new state tax on beer and wine goes into effect. According to the state, wine prices will rise by more than 11 cents per gallon, and the tax on wine per gallon goes up about 3 cents.
